General
What is accuno and who is it for?
accuno is a German cloud accounting platform with AI-based receipt extraction. It targets businesses (Unternehmer under § 14 BGB): freelancers, sole proprietors, partnerships (GbR, OHG, KG), corporations (UG, GmbH, AG), groups, and accounting firms. We do not offer consumer contracts.
Which countries can I use accuno in?
accuno is designed for German accounting workflows, including SKR03/SKR04, VAT advance returns, and DATEV EXTF exchange. Other tax jurisdictions are not currently supported.
How quickly can I start?
Register, create a client, select SKR03 or SKR04, and process your first receipt. Pay-as-you-go has no monthly base fee; usage-based billing is activated securely through Stripe.
Do I need prior accounting knowledge?
Some basics help, but they are not required. AI receipt extraction suggests posting codes; bank import suggests OPOS matches; SuSa/BWA/GuV are computed automatically. If you are starting with zero accounting experience, bring in a tax advisor (Steuerberater) for period close; accuno lets you invite one directly as a role.
Is accuno tied to one computer or a device license?
No. accuno is a web application: sign in through a supported browser using your own user account and access the clients available to you from any supported device. Plan user counts, roles, and permissions apply independently of the device; credentials must not be shared.
How does earlier test access work?
Registering your interest is free and does not require you to subscribe. If we enable test access and you choose a plan, the standard prices shown at checkout apply; this is not a free trial. You can use accuno in normal day-to-day operations and remain responsible for reviewing your business transactions. Feedback is welcome. We prioritize and review reports about individual transactions or possible material errors as quickly as possible; no fixed response or resolution time is promised.
Security & Legal
Which privacy features does accuno provide?
Privacy is built into the product through role-based access, encryption of sensitive values, data-subject export, and controlled deletion workflows. The approved privacy notice and DPA describe providers, purposes, and safeguards.
What is the status of GoBD compliance?
accuno is designed around GoBD principles and enables GoBD-compliant accounting: posted records remain unchanged, while corrections use transparent cancellation and reposting. Closed fiscal years are locked and important actions record time and actor. No external IDW PS 880 attestation is currently available. accuno provides traceable GoBD exports as evidence for compliance reviews.
Where is my data stored?
Application, database, and storage are operated in Germany. Additional providers may be used for protection and product features. The approved privacy notice and DPA identify the applicable processing locations and safeguards.
Do you have a data processing agreement (AVV/DPA)?
The current DPA, technical and organizational measures, and approved subprocessor information are available at /avv.
How long is my data retained?
Before an active deletion, accuno guides you through export and backup. After contract end, product access is blocked and the client remains reactivatable for 90 days. Operational data is then removed under the deletion policy, while records subject to retention duties remain segregated and access-restricted.
AI & Receipts
How does the AI work behind the scenes?
At launch, accuno uses one defined AI model for extraction. The receipt is sent to the designated provider and returned as structured data. The approved privacy notice and DPA identify the provider, processing locations, and safeguards.
What happens if the AI fails to read a receipt?
You can fill in or correct fields before continuing. Corrections remain as client-specific evidence in the learning history and can support the client-specific suggestion logic; they do not train the AI model itself. You remain responsible for the final posting decision.
Can I disable the AI and book everything manually?
Yes. AI receipt extraction is optional. You can create receipts manually, use banking without automatic OPOS matching, and enter postings directly. That saves AI token costs.
Which e-invoices does accuno support?
accuno reads incoming XRechnung in UBL or CII syntax and ZUGFeRD/Factur-X with embedded invoice XML into structured fields. You then review and process the data like any other receipt. This support covers incoming invoices; creating and sending your own e-invoices is not currently included.
Banking & DATEV
Do I have to connect my bank account?
No. accuno is currently file-based only, using account statement exports (CAMT.053 or MT940). There is no PSD2 API connection. You upload the export from your online banking interface monthly or weekly.
What DATEV license does my tax advisor need?
The download itself requires no additional license in accuno. Ask your tax firm to confirm how the DATEV EXTF posting batch is imported into its specific DATEV version. Alternatively, invite the tax firm directly into accuno with its own role.
Can my tax advisor see my accuno data without an export?
Yes. Invite them as a member with the "Steuerberater" (tax advisor) role. You can choose between read-only (view only) and edit (can also post). The tax advisor uses their own credentials; you do not share login details.
Clients & Teams
How many clients can I manage?
Pay-as-you-go, Starter, and Advanced: one client (Mandant) per account. Enterprise: unlimited clients under a single organization, with centralized user/permission management and a single invoice. Accounting firms typically use Enterprise.
What does an extra user cost?
Every plan includes a number of users (PayG 1, Starter 1, Advanced 3, Enterprise 10). Beyond that, you add users as an add-on; the current unit price is shown on /pricing below the compare table.
What roles are there?
Six client (tenant) roles: Owner (everything), Admin (everything except plan switch and client deletion), Accountant (all bookkeeping functions), Steuerberater (bookkeeping access with an audit tag), Viewer (read-only), Upload (only uploads receipts). Enterprise adds three organization roles: Owner, Admin, Member. Beyond the standard role, individual permissions can also be granted or revoked per user when the fixed role doesn't quite fit.
Can I give my tax advisor access without them having an accuno account?
The tax advisor needs an accuno account: you invite them by email, they create a free account once, and your client appears in their overview. The account itself is free for them; you, as the inviting customer, pay via your plan.
Billing
Which payment methods do you accept?
Payments are handled securely through Stripe. The checkout automatically shows the payment methods available for your country and currency.
Do I receive a proper invoice?
Stripe receipts and payment status are available in the billing area. The exact document provided depends on the configured billing and tax details.
What is the difference between Pay-as-you-go and Starter?
Pay-as-you-go has no monthly base fee and includes AI extraction plus accounting master data. Persistent document storage can be added separately. Starter unlocks the full accounting workflow with postings, banking, open items, reports, tax, and exports. Current capabilities and prices are listed on /pricing.
What is the difference between Starter and Advanced?
Starter and Advanced include the same complete accounting capabilities. Advanced includes more seats and storage and uses the lower standard token tier for AI extraction; Starter uses the higher entry tier. Current allowances and prices are listed on /pricing.
Migration & Data
Can I import my existing accounting?
Yes. Import DATEV EXTF as well as mapped CSV/XLSX data. Accounts, vendors, customers, and postings are handled through their supported structures; new import postings are marked traceably.
How do I export my data from accuno?
Three formats: DATEV posting batch (CSV in DATEV standard), generic CSV (for Excel/Google Sheets), PDF (for reports like BWA, GuV, balance sheet). All three are available directly in the app; no support request needed.
What happens to my data after cancellation?
Create the exports you need before contract end. Product access is then blocked and the client remains reactivatable through billing for 90 days. Before active final deletion, accuno additionally guides you through a complete export and backup procedure.
Can I switch from another tool like DATEV, Lexware, or sevDesk?
DATEV EXTF can be imported directly. Exports from tools such as Lexware or sevDesk must first be converted into a supported DATEV, CSV, or XLSX structure. A cut-off migration at the start of a fiscal period is also possible.
Do I have to move all of my accounting to accuno?
No. You can use accuno only for receipt extraction, export the structured results as CSV, and continue in your existing accounting system. Check the import structure required by the target software first; some systems need one-time mapping.
